Wide receiver is a position of need for the Buffalo Bills going into the draft this year. One player who is trying to turn heads is former Michigan quarterback Denard Robinson who is trying to convert to a wide receiver/ returner.

In his time at Michigan Robinson showed that he has outstanding physical abilities. He set the record for most rushing yards by a quarterback in his first year starting for the Wolverines, but it seems like things have just gone down hill from there.

His quarterback abilities seemed to diminish as his career went along, but his rushing ability was never questioned. He may not have put up the crazy stats that he did his first season, but he was still a reliable rusher.

Robinson has been preforming in the Senior Bowl, and honestly he hasn’t been impressing many. He is still recovering from an elbow injury and just can’t compete with other wide receivers when it comes to catching abilities. Many project that he still will be a late round pick instead of moving up to the Day Two range.

With a late round pick, Robinson is a much smaller risk for a lot of the question marks that come with it. He is a project, but he certainly does have some abilities that should make scouts see some promise in him. I’d talk about his stats, but I guess they really don’t matter much with the complete change in position.

Now, this wouldn’t be a player to put across from Stevie Johnson next season. If they are going to address that need, it’d be much earlier in the draft. This would be a player that they could play with, and maybe even develop into a decent wide receiver. However, with a guy like Brad Smith already in the fold, that might not even be needed.

Whatever the case, Robinson seems like a player worth keeping an eye on and is one of the players that has the most to prove in this year’s Senior Bowl.
