As this Bills team waits for training camp I wanted to see who people think is the most important player on the roster. They have definitely brought in players that may be worthy of this but you can only pick one. In selecting a candidate you will want to look position, age, progression and what he means to this team.

My selection would have to be Stephon Gilmore. Coming off his rookie year he was absolutely one of the only bright spots with the defense. He started off a little shaky but soon settled in and looked like a back that’s been playing for years. This is a player this team has needed for some time. The corner position has had some decent players in past years but nothing that had anyone saying we can’t let him go. Although Gilmore’s stats were nothing to rave about his play in covering the opposing top receiver was very good. He did not give up a TD to an opposing receiver after week 5 last season. I think he will only rise in the corner ranks and people soon will see how valuable he will become. The Bills will for sure have someone for years they can depend on and bail them out when necessary.

Although there are other guys worthy of this selection I think Gilmore is that guy. He is going to show everybody and not just Bills fans that he is the real deal. I can’t wait to see him this season play against the top receivers. Who is your pick?

Mario Williams and the Buffalo Bills definitely had people talking these past couple of days with comments he said to the Buffalo News. Williams had said “He (Pettine) usually says, ‘Kill ‘em or hurt ‘em. ‘ That’s what I always hear.” After that surfaced memory of the word “Bounty” came back to the minds of people throughout the league.

We all know what happened in that instance that left a coach and players suspended. Greg Williams behind the “Bounty” scandal was recently reinstated after being suspended indefinitely for his role that had players targeting certain players.

That said on current and past issues with this bounty talk I just don’t get all the commotion about it? Is what Williams said really that bad? I hear people say that kind of stuff all the time while watching the game. Friends of mine that also played in college did it as well. Everyone wants to see that big hit or play that turns a game around. Injuries occur from those and people don’t say anything about them. Is it because they didn’t say kill’em first? It’s a part of the game and I don’t think people need to drag on saying it’s bad for the game and people are bad for saying it.

Since the comments from Mario he has taken to twitter to clear up any question or doubt about Pettine’s philosophy. He basically says that Pettine never actually said those words but that’s how he takes it from his perspective. Now people are going to think Pettine indeed did say those words and Mario is trying to turn the attention but again who cares. No one I believe is really trying to kill anyone and is just part of the game. Hopefully this doesn’t linger into training camp and the Bills can just go about their business.
