Buffalo Bills Win Second Game in a Row in Shutout vs. Patriots

The Buffalo Bills have been on fire the last two weeks with dominant wins against the Arizona Cardinals and New England Patriots.
After last week’s dominating performance against the Cardinals, the Buffalo Bills traveled to Foxborough to take on the red-hot Patriots. The Patriots were without Tom Brady for the last time, making this a game the Bills needed to win.
Rex Ryan is 4-11 vs the Patriots, and for all of his pregame tough talk, it rarely translates to wins on the field. This game would be more of the same.
On the first play of the game, QB Jimmy Brissett hit Julian Edelman for a 91-yard pass. Luckily, the play was called back for pass interference. The Bills came out moving down the field with ease and scored on a 7-yard TD pass to RB LeSean McCoy to take a 7-0 lead. The Bills finished the first quarter driving down the field and getting into the red zone.
The Bills began the second quarter by hitting a 34-yard field by Dan Carpenter to take a 10-0 lead. Later in the second quarter, Buffalo scored with another FG by Carpenter to take a 13-0 lead. The Patriots started moving the ball on their next possession. Brissett hit TE Bennett with a 58 -yard pass down the field. However, 2 plays later Brissett was scrambling down the field and fumbled the ball. Buffalo recovered the ball with serious momentum heading into halftime.
The Patriots opened the second half moving the ball down the field. The Bills’ defense held them to a 48-yard FG attempt, which Gostkowski missed wide right. On their next possession, the Bills were moving the ball well but had to settle for a 48-yard FG that bounced off the goal post and missed. On their final possession of the third quarter, the Bills kicked a 44-yard FG to go up 16-0 heading into the 4th.
The Bills had a long clock-killing drive on their first possession of the 4th. The drive ended with a punt with 7:13 left in the game. The Patriots answered back with a long drive of their own that went nowhere. The Bills defense stepped up again keeping the shut-out intact.
The Bills played well today. Their defense was all over the field stopping Brissett multiple times. Offensively, they moved the ball down the field most of the day. Despite finding success moving the ball, they only managed to score one TD.

The Bills now sit at 2-2. They lost a close defensive battle to the undefeated Ravens in the opener. The following week they lost a close shootout with the Jets. They have now won 2 in a row over Super Bowl contending teams.
It looks like the Bills are back on track.
