Ron Brooks Could Earn a Bigger Role for the Buffalo Bills

"It’s safe to say that the Buffalo Bills’ final preseason game against the Detroit Lions wasn’t entirely pretty. After all, Matt Simms was starting at quarterback in the game, and he stands no chance of making the final roster. The highlight of his night was a pass he threw while being thrown to the ground, and it went backwards as a 20 yard fumble toss. However, the good part of tonight’s game was getting a look at some of the team’s defensive depth and talent. One player stood out in particular, and that was defensive back Ron Brooks.Brooks is a fourth-year man out of LSU, and he has been on the Bills’ roster for the last three seasons. He has not logged a ton of playing time, but he had a solid year in limited action, totaling 31 tackles and defending a pass for the team. Brooks has never looked great, but he is an all-around solid backup player who has been a mainstay on the team’s depth chart."

Buffalo Bills GM Doug Whaley denies acting on his own in decision to cut Fred Jackson

Days after the Bills cut Jackson, Tim Graham of the Buffalo News reported that Whaley “went rogue” in cutting Jackson.Standing outside the Bills’ locker room at Ford Field following the team’s final preseason game against the Detroit Lions, Whaley denied acting on his own with the controversial move."

Lions beat Bills in preseason finale

Buffalo signed the linebacker last month a day after he was cut by the New York Jets because he punched quarterback Geno Smith and broke his jaw."
