Buffalo Bills Detroit Lions game preview

More from Buffalo Bills News

The Buffalo Bills will be facing off against the Detroit Lions in their final preseason game tonight, at Ford Field.  The Bills and Lions have faced off against each other a number times each year in the preseason and it has basically become a given that Buffalo will meet Detroit in the final preseason game.  It is just, where will it be played.

Matt Simms will look to get the start and play for the entire game as well.

"“Obviously I’ve had two years with Matt so I know what he can do, but coming in here and learning a new offense and things I knew it wouldn’t be a problem for him,” said Ryan. “He’s a sharp guy. This young man can play and I think when he gets out there he’s going to prove it.”– Buffalobills.com"

As far as injuries, for the Buffalo Bills, those injured will be back in Buffalo watching the game.

"“Among the players who will be working at One Bills Drive are Charles Clay, Marcell Dareus, Boobie Dixon, Marquise Goodwin, Deonte Thompson, Karlos Williams, Mario Williams and Robert Woods.”– Buffalobills.com"

Boobie Dixon was on the John Murphy show last night and seemed like he was ready to play in this final preseason game.  He may be a last minute decision to make the trip for Rex Ryan.  Another that is pushing to play is that of Percy Harvin. Harvin has not seen any action this preseason and wants to get some game time before the season starts.

Rex Ryan on the other hand is more concerned with going into week 1 healthy and ready to give Indianapolis all that they have, which isn’t too bad of a strategy either.

"“Whatever he’s got in store for me that’s what it is,” said Dixon of his head coach. “I’m not putting no count limit on it, but I just want to get out there and get tackled and get back in football shape and run down on kickoff and do what I do and that’s be all over the field.”– Buffalobills.com"

With the quarterback race over and the offensive line intact as Ryan would like.  Corey Graham has locked up the safety position next to Aaron Williams, the real position battle to watch is going to be the wide receivers.  The younger and lower ranked guys have got a lot of playing time with the injuries to Sammy Watkins, Harvin and Robert Woods, but it will be interesting to see who will shine tonight and make those final spots at receiver.  Who is your pick to make it?

The Detroit Lions, as most of the league, will not play their starters this week. Detroit is coming into the final week with the same record as the Bills, 2-1 with a win over the Jacksonville Jaguars last week.
