Buffalo Bills Sign Tryout Player

The Buffalo Bills finished their rookie mini-camp and part of the rookies that were invited were a handful of tryout players that did not count against the 90 player roster.  In fact, the Buffalo Bills only had 89 total players as one of the rookies did not sign a contract but still participated in the mini-camp.

Buffalo took the opportunity to take that 1 open spot and sign a tryout player that look to be NFL ready.  Safety Wes Miller was signed to a contract earlier today.

Miller is 5’9 and weighs 183 #s.  He is on the smaller size but lead his former team, UTEP in tackles (74) and, solo stops (42) and interceptions (2).

As the Buffalo Bills are looking to fill the safety hole that both Jairus Byrd and Da’Norris Searcy have filled and then vacated over the past two year, Miller becomes the 7th safety on the teams roster at this point and will look to take a similar path to many rookies and tryout players take, making the practice squad if not better.

Buffalo is set at strong safety with Aaron Williams and the front runner for the free safety position is that of Duke Williams, but Duke will have a couple of people gunning for him to try and wedge their way into a spot on the roster and quite possibly a starting position for the back two.  With 7 players on the roster and Buffalo possibly only keeping 4 or 5 at this point, there could be a good battle in the defensive backfield to keep your eye on.

This also does not include the possibility of Corey Graham making the move to safety, which would really shake some things up.

No matter what happens with the roster and who makes an impression at which position, it is going to be a good year for the Buffalo Bills and training camp hasn’t even started yet.
