It was announced yesterday that Andre Johnson is seeking to relieve himself from the Houston Texans and quickly.

Johnson is seeking a trade out of Houston and to what feel should be a contender.  Buffalo doesn’t necessarily fall into that category yet but there is an upside coming to Buffalo.  We are better than Houston at least our records show.  We have talent around the QB position that will support and Johnson will only add to that.  If the Bills carry 6 receivers, adding Johnson wouldn’t effect it too much.  Sammy Watkins, Robert Woods, T.J. Graham, Marquise Goodwin, and Mike Williams would be your core with Johnson as your number 1.

Andre Johnson also fills a hole for a lack of first round pick next season as well.  It is rumored that Johnson may go as long as a 2nd round pick.  The Bills have talent around the WR position and could afford to give up a player and a pick for Johnson.

The Bills would have to move some money around to add Andre Johnson to the mix.  Johnson’s contract is worth 10 million.  The Bills are sitting with 7.5 million in available cap.  If T.J. Graham is considered expendable, his contract of 725K could be added to free up some of the necessary money to take on Johnson’s cap space.  The Bills would need to cover an additional 175 million, which could be done through the disbandment of the roster due to training camp.  Throw a second round pick in and not team is really worse for the wear, well at least Buffalo isn’t.

The Bills want to surround EJ Manuel with talent so why not give him talent.  Watkins is talented, but has not played a down in the NFL yet.  We know what Woods and Goodwin can do.  Graham seems to be odd man out.  Mike Williams replaced Steve Johnson so you go into the season with a number 1 in Johnson, and 3 number 2 as your 2nd, 3rd, and 4th receivers.  Really can’t beat that scenario.

Buffalo needs to make this move, one to help Manuel as well as to cover the lack of first round pick next year.
