2014 Season Expectations: Wide Receiver Marquise Goodwin

Marquise Goodwin is a wide receiver that has incredible speed to say the least for the Buffalo Bills as he is one of the fastest on the planet let alone the NFL as he ran a 4.27 40 yard dash time at the Combine and it turned heads to say the least. In 2012, he represented the United States at the Olympics in London, England in the triple jump event. In his rookie year, Goodwin had 17 catches with 283 yards and three touchdown receptions plus 351 yards on 16 kick returns as well. His breakout play was versus the New York Jets as it was a 43-yard touchdown pass from E.J. Manuel as it was, Antonio Cromartie was keeping with him stride for stride then all of a sudden Goodwin hit another gear and burned left Cromartie in the dust.

This will be his first complete year where he’s focusing on football primarily instead of going from football to track and training that way since high school, as a result he could be the player that progresses the most between year one and two. Marquise Goodwin will likely be the number four wide receiver for the team this year behind Robert Woods, Mike Williams and Sammy Watkins, and this isn’t a knock on his talent level as Goodwin clearly has it; however those three are just so talented.

My expectations for Marquise Goodwin in 2014 are he’ll get 25 catches for 375 yards and four touchdowns and likely become the primary kick returner so 35 returns for 900 yards and at least one return for a touchdown as well. This return numbers will go up so much due to the Bills not wanting to risk C.J. Spiller returning kicks and as Goodwin’s recognition of game speed will enable him to use his sprinter speed far more effectively. All and all, this would be an extremely productive and efficient 2014-2015 season for the speedster and fans will enjoy celebrating the 5-foot-9, 180 pound wide receiver.
