The Buffalo Bills are currently the one NFL team that is up for sale by Mary Wilson, widow of Ralph Wilson who owned the team since it’s inception in 1960. She has the controlling stake of the franchise, thus it’s her decision in who buys this storied team. The current vital questions that every Bills fan should be asking is how much will the team go for, who will be next owner, and will the Buffalo Bills move out of Western New York?
One of the biggest names out there is Buffalo Sabres owner Terry Pegula mainly due to a sale 75,000 acres of Utica and Marcellus Shale leases in West Virginia and Ohio for $1.75 billion thanks to the Buffalo News’ Tim Graham This might be reportedly enough liquid assets to purchase the team nearly two times over. If Pegula does in fact purchase the team, it will ensure that the Buffalo Bills aren’t moving out of the area anytime in the foreseeable future and he will own almost every major sports team in the Queen City. This would be seen as a wildly popular move and a proposed waterfront football stadium in the harbor area of downtown might be coming to Buffalo sooner rather than later.
Other big names that are Jon Bon Jovi with the backing of Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment lead by Larry Tanenbaum. This would include a likely move for the Buffalo Bills to Toronto since the group also owns the Toronto Raptors, Toronto Maple Leafs, Toronto Marlies and the Toronto FC. This move is unlikely to happen since Ralph Wilson apparently put a clause in the contract about relocation being extremely hard, if not impossible to do.
All and all, it will be interesting to see what happens next for the Buffalo Bills, but count on the fact of everyone here at Buffalowdown.com to have the best coverage when news breaks related to the team.
