Monday, Jim Kelly spent resting after going through the final radiation stages of chemotherapy treatment. Weak but positive-minded, Kelly was a treat for all. While he spent time in the hospital today, Jim Kelly’s former teammates, Andre Reed and Thurman Thomas, were among many Bills players and alumni who attended the golf fundraiser and reception on Monday, June 2. Thomas was impressed and thankful for such a phenomenal turnout.
” He’s truly missed by not being here, but we all understand the circumstances,” Thomas said. “To me, this turnout just shows the power of how much people care about Jim, and what he means.” (USA Today)
Time and time again, the NFL shows why it has become one of the most respected professional organizations in America. To see Dan Marino and Jim Kelly, two division rivals, come together to show support for a great cause is inspiring. The entire sporting world seems to have come together to support Jim Kelly and his family through this difficult time. #prayersforJK and #KellyStrong can be seen all throughout social media as the former Bills quarterback fights a cancer that continues to spread.
Kelly still has a long road ahead of him; he wasn’t healthy enough to attend his own golf fundraiser. However, he can rest assured that people of all backgrounds and professions support him in his battle against cancer. Kelly’s positive energy rivaled that of his days as an AFC East champion.
Jim Kelly, our hearts go out to you and your family. We will keep you in our prayers.
