If you are a fan of the Buffalo Bills you know the name Jim Kelly. He is a beloved person in and around Western New York, and now he is in a fight like never before. In recent months Kelly has been fighting Cancer. There are no surgeries, or easy fixes. As Kelly fights for his life he is also fighting for the Buffalo Bills and the fans yet again.
A person’s life has many chapters and for Kelly his life’s story is well know. There are stories from his playing days, and from the tragic loss of his son Hunter, and with every passing event Kelly has tried to make positive changes out of things that could crush some people. Today that trend continues. Kelly is back in the hospital trying to recover from the side-effects of Chemotherapy and Radiation treatments. But, that hasn’t stop the Hall of Fame Quarterback from saying he will do what he can to keep the Bills in Buffalo.
It’s unbelievable really; someone who is going through hell is willing to pick another fight just to keep a sports team where he believes it belongs. Kelly’s name has been linked with Donald Trump, and it is known that a few other groups trying to convince Kelly to join them in buying the Bills. But, here is my thought on all of this.
Kelly is trying to give back to the fans and community that has had his back on and off the field. I’m not trying to be grim here, but if Kelly is unable to win his fight with cancer; keeping the Bills in Buffalo cements his legacy, and I believe would be his way of saying thank you for all the support this area has given to Jim and his family. I could be completely wrong in assuming that, but I think no matter how things play out in Kelly’s personal life his goal is keep this team here and not unlike his career Kelly is not going down without a fight.
