Herschel Walker came out yesterday and made some statements that he is still in shape and can play in the NFL. He made note that he couldn’t play every down, but either do the backs in today’s game. He feels that he could still make it as an NFL running back at 52.
“I couldn’t take every snap,” Walker told Bell. “But running backs nowadays don’t play every down. Now they send in the choir section. . . . Physically, I can still do it.”
Could he come back an play after moving over the half century mark? It is possible but very unlikely. He is in excellent shape and has fought in the MMA. He is also a fifth degree black belt. For him to get back into shape for the NFL is just a short step away, at least in his eyes. There is another way that Walker could be coming back to the NFL. He is backing Donald Trump on the impending sale of the Buffalo Bills and very well could be his, for lack of a better term, apprentice. He knows Trump well. When he played in the USFL for the New Jersey Generals, Trump was the owner of the team. He has also been associated with Trump on a 2009 Celebrity Apprentice as well.
“He would be a great owner, and a credible owner,” Walker said of Trump. “He may rub some people the wrong way, but you can’t argue with his success as a businessman,” Walker said. “You want an owner with some flair. He knows how to promote.”
Could there be a Trump/Walker connection coming to Buffalo in the future. It is possible and nothing has been determined yet and just a lot of talking going on, especially on Trump’s side. First and foremost, Trump needs to stop talking and make an offer to get this ball rolling.
