As I finish watching an episode of Scooby Doo with my son, I cannot help but think that the Buffalo Bills are playing a game of deception when it comes to the position of quarterback. Surely they cannot enter the 2014 campaign with EJ Manuel, Thad Lewis and Jeff Tuel on the final roster.
Could they be targeting a quarterback in the upcoming draft? I think not in the first round, but after that all bets are off. Quarterback is one of the weakest positions on the team and THE most important. Doug Whaley has said they are set at quarterback, but he has also said they were done in the free agent market before signing Jarius Wynn. It truly is the time of the year that you cannot believe anything coming from any front office of any NFL team.
Surprisingly the Bills have been quiet when it comes to quarterback. They ignored the free agent market altogether and have been more than mum on any college quarterbacks. In the coming weeks it will be interesting to see if the Bills entertain any quarterbacks at One Bills Drive.
If the Bills enter 2014 with the roster they have, it would be a travesty. The Bills seem to have their crosshairs on mobile quarterbacks. I still think they should give Josh Freeman a look. Other than that, I have stated my case for AJ McCarron, and Zach Mettenberger in the past. I just cannot believe that Doug Marrone and Doug Whaley think it is a good idea to enter the 2014 NFL season with the quarterback situation being what it is at this moment.
The mystery machine will roll right up to draft day. Maybe Fred, Daphne and the gang will have it solved by May.
