The Bills have been signing guys and pretty good decent ones at that but I would like to know one thing. What are their plans with the quarterback position? I know EJ Manuel has already been labeled the starter for the upcoming year and even though I don’t agree with that it is what it is. What if Manuel goes down again but this time it’s for an extended period of time? Do we take our chances with Lewis or Tuel? Do we sign a veteran to teach and show the way? I like the second option but also what about drafting a guy in like the 3rd-4th round? We’ve all been told there’s no chance the Bills take a QB in the first round if basically all of them are available but nothing was said about later on. One guy I have been high on now for a while is Aaron Murray.
Coming out of Georgia Murray had a very good 4 year collegiate career but only to see his senior year cut short with an ACL injury. He’s shown flashes of greatness but also shows us things that makes him a work in progress as he moves on up to the NFL.
Some positives on Murray are: fairly accurate passer, has ability to look off defenders very well, can throw on the move and has the skill to evade the pass rush and move the sticks.
On the other hand the knocks on Aaron are: he’s considered small by NFL standards at barley 6’0 and roughly 200 lbs, the ACL injury he suffered in his senior season could be a concern moving forward, lacks that elite arm strength and is more of a rhythm passer so once broken could be trouble.
So there you have a little on a possible guy the Bills could look at later in the draft. In no way am I saying he’s the guy and would dethrone Manuel if ever drafted but it isn’t a bad idea to have a backup plan. Any thoughts on Murray or if you like another quarterback that is likely to be taken in the later rounds?
