NFL columnist Adam Schein, along with other analysts, believe that Michael Vick would be the perfect fit for the Buffalo Bills.
Shocking? Not really.
The aging veteran would be a huge upgrade from Thad Lewis and Jeff Tuel, who played admirably in EJ’s absence. However, they only combined for a 2-4 record in 2o13.
As a backup to EJ Manuel, Michael Vick offers much-needed leadership and guidance to a young quarterback heading into his sophomore year. A quarterback’s sophomore year is the most crucial to their development as it can make or break them; don;t forget it’s also the second year term of Marrone & co. Like it or not there is going to be a lot of pressure for the organization to do well, all falling upon EJ Manuel’s shoulders. Michael Vick could help bear the weight.
Vick brings along his own baggage as questions of age and his ability to stay healthy are commonly talked about. However, Michael Vick won’t have to do nearly as much in Buffalo as he would have in Philly. Nathaniel Hackett’s offense is built to run defenses down with the bills offensive weapons; a healthy Vick has the arm strength and accuracy to control the game. It only comes down to keeping him safe in the pocket.
Whether or not Vick falls in Buffalo remains to be seen. I believe Vick would be a cheap and reliable tool to help EJ throughout the year. And if things don’t workout for Manuel, Vick could surprise everyone.
Vick vs. Manuel come training camp…
Now that’s one quarterback competition I’d like to see.
