Owen Daniels Released By Texans

NFL.com’s Gregg Rosenthal reports that Owen Daniels & the Houston Texans parted ways today. The two-time Pro Bowl tight end broke his leg last season and his release saves the Texans almost $5 million in cap space.

With the Buffalo Bills tight end Scott Chandler becoming a free agent today, Daniels could bring Buffalo some much-needed experience to the tight end position.

Owen Daniels has experience playing in a zone blocking offense that helped Arian Foster  hit 1,000 yards and created an effective play action attack. Daniels is also a two-time Pro Bowler;

Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett tried to utilize C.J. Spiller with play calling similar to that of Houston with a singleback, two tight end set. Adding Daniels to the mix will help Buffalo use this type of formation more effectively.
