Many years ago the Buffalo Bills traded a first round draft pick for Drew Bledsoe. That move gave the Bills their only winning season in the past 13 years. Could the Buffalo Bills pull the trigger on another trade with the evil empire known as the New England Patriots again?
Ryan Mallett has quietly been sitting behind Tom Brady learning the craft of NFL quarterback. He came into the NFL with some character issues, but I think those have disappeared over his duration in the league. He has not taken a meaningful snap in New England, but is Mallett primed to become a great quarterback much like Aaron Rodgers was in Green Bay?
In considering the cost, we must remember the Bills would not be trading for a starting quarterback. Mallett would be a capable challenger to EJ Manuel and leave no drop off in talent when EJ goes down. Of course, the deciding factor is what would the Bills have to give up? Trading within the division is not a cheap prospect.
What do you think Buffalo? Is this something to be considered for a 3rd round or even 2nd round pick? I would pull the trigger for a 3rd rounder. The quarterback position is too valuable to leave unattended.
