This time of year is big for scouts, coaches, and of course the players looking to be drafted.
Two big needs for the Bills come in the form of an offensive lineman. Offensive tackle being probably the biggest and they are in need of a guard as well. The Bills also are shopping for a tight end. Recently, the Bills front office stated that they are in negotiations with Scott Chandler and his agent, but I really don’t know if that is the best move for the Bills. There are talented young TE’s in the draft that could be of more help to the Bills as well as EJ Manuel.
Lets take a look at the TEs and some of their stats from the combine.
As for the 40 yard dash, here are the top 10:
|A.C Leonard||Tenn St||4.5|
|Eric Ebron||NC St||4.6|
|Jace Amaro||Texas Tech||4.72|
|Reggie Jordan||Miss West||4.77|
Eric Ebron was a top performer in the bench press as well.
As for some of the other TEs that we have looked at in the past through the draft rounds here at BLD, Jace Amaro was also a best performer in the 3 cone drill and the broad jump. Also, CJ Fiedorowicz was a best performer in the 3 cone drill and the 20 yard shuffle.
The 40 yard dash and the bench press are impressive stats but should not be the only thing to look at when looking at players abilities. The cone drills and shuffles are good agility measures as well. CJ Fiedorowicz was the best TE in both the cone drill and the 20 yard shuffle. Ebron did not compete in either of these drills. CJ’s speed is not too horrific either. I would say that if Ebron is not there at the 9th pick or there is another player of more need, ie OL or WR, the Bills may want to look at Fiedorowicz in the 3rd round, if he is still there.
