Tonight at nine the NFL network will reveal its fifteen finalists for the 2014 Hall of Fame class. Andre Reed has been knocking on the door as of late but could this be his year?
A member of this Bills team for 15 years and looking at what he accomplished I’m wondering what else could he have done besides win a Super Bowl? Reed dominated when he played and still holds a lot of records within the organization today. They include: receptions 941, yards 13,095, touchdowns 86 and games played 221 to name a few. He is basically in the top five of almost every other category as well. A member of this team during the Super Bowl years it was a shame that they couldn’t pull one out. Something I often wondered was does this team make it that far without him? That’s something I hope this committee incorporates into their decision as to how valuable he was to an organization. This team really hasn’t had a guy like Andre since his departure and that as well I would think has to be brought up. I think it’s been hard to get receivers in lately as everyone’s seen but Reed has paid his dues.
I will be watching tonight to see what happens but I think he will be in the final fifteen. Do I think he gets in when it’s all said and done is a different story. I’d be pleased if he did make it as he’s been one of my favorite players of all time but I think it may be another year. Definitely hope I’m wrong but one thing is for sure he will get in eventually and he mirrors everything that a Hall of Famer should be.
