A Viable Option Veteran QB for the Buffalo Bills?

We looked at the Buffalo Bills and Nathaniel Hackett and his stretched resources as an Offensive Coordinator and a QB coach.  Bringing in a quarterback coach is a must to help this young quarterbacking staff, which includes Lewis.  Hackett needs the help, desperately.  Who can the Bills bring in as the Veteran QB to help develop the young players.

The Buffalo Bills needs someone like Kelly Holcomb, a guy that knows his role as a journeyman back-up and is willing to come in knowing he will be developing the younger players as used only as a stop gap.

Looking at the free agent QBs that will be available come March 11th, 64 days from now, there are not many on the list that could really fill these shoes.

The oldest free agent available is 41 year old Jon Kitna.  Kitna as been in the league a long time and has seen the ups and downs, mostly downs and the injury side of things.  Others that are on the list that may fit in are the 35 year old David Garrard, 33 year old Michael Vick, 31 year old Matt Cassel, and the 33 year old Dan Orlovsky.

Past these guys, and with Vick and Cassel most likely being too expensive to be in a role like this, I don’t see a lot of these guys having enough experience to be able to give veteran leadership to guys like Manuel, Tuel and Lewis.  Others on the list are Charlie Whitehurst, Josh McCown, Shaun Hill, Rex Grossman and the likes of Derek Anderson.

I really think that a guy like Matt Hasselbeck is someone the Bills should look for.

You can check out the rest of the quarterback free agents at the link above and see if I missed anyone that might fit the bill.
