Buffalo a Good landing spot for Texas A&M Wide Receiver Mike Evans

Oct 26, 2013; College Station, TX, USA; Texas A

The Buffalo Bills are going to miss the playoffs for the 14th straight time. So what better time to start looking at potential draft picks than now? Buffalo currently holds the 10th overall position in the draft, however, this could change based on the week 17 results. Their first round pick needs to be a playmaker, someone who can help extend drives, help the offense and change the game. With the 10th overall pick, the Buffalo Bills should be taking Mike Evans.

Evans is a Texas A&M wide receiver that is listed at 6’5” 225 lbs. He is a dominant receiver that can go up and get the ball at any moment.  He isn’t the fastest guy on the field but his height and his aggressive play make up for his lack of speed. His stats for 2013 are quite impressive, he hauled in 65 receptions for 1,322 yards and 12 touchdowns. Versus the AP’s ranked opponents, Evans did outstanding, he averaged 24 yards a catch and 625 yards for 5 touchdowns.

Currently, Buffalo has Stevie Johnson, Robert Woods, Marquise Goodwin, T.J. Graham and a few others but none with the size of Evans. Buffalo’s core group of receivers are fast and can catch the ball, but none of them can truly win a jump ball or are the huge mismatch for a cornerback. If Buffalo would draft Evans they would be looking at a great 4 wide receiver set.

Evans would be their tall jump ball receiver, Johnson and Woods would be the possession receivers and Goodwin would be the speedster to stretch the field. Now include Scott Chandler and one of their dynamic running backs and the offense would create a lot more mismatches. Currently, Buffalo just doesn’t have that mismatch, that red zone threat that they need. Evans would be a huge help and would help the progress of rookie quarterback EJ Manuel. It would finally give him a big target and take some of the pressure off of Johnson.

Evans would be a perfect fit for Buffalo and would make an instant impact. He has already proven he can play with the best in the nation and if Buffalo doesn’t take him there might be another AFC East team that does (New York Jets).
