Buffalo Bills: EJ Manuel out against Patriots

If you were hoping to see a Manuel Brady match-up again in the last week of the season, you will have to wait until next year.  E.J. Manuel has been ruled out for the game against the Patriots.  Thad Lewis will get the start this week.

Doug Marrone stated that Manuel would be ready to go against the Patriots a week ago.  It seems that Manuel’s knee did not progress as well as the team would have hope and he will be out for the finale.

Manuel suffered this knee injury back in week 15 and missed week 16 against the Dolphins.

Marrone commented on Manuel’s lost time on the playing field with his injuries.

“I think we all, starting with EJ, have a sense of frustration but there’s also a sense of excitement,” Marrone said. “Here’s a guy that did play 10 games and he probably practiced less than anyone else who played 10 games. There were points in those games where he played well, either won the game for us or put us in a position to win. And there were points where he did not play well. From that standpoint, there’s a sense of excitement of having someone coming back, full off-season, getting ready to go and really seeing his game take off.”

Lewis will get his fifth start this week and is currently 2-2 for the Bills.

Other moves for the Bills this week include moving Aaron Williams to the IR and activating DB Cordell Roberson.  Also, Stevie Johnson has been ruled out for the game this week.
