As of today Thad Lewis is still in a fly by pattern as to whether he will be the starting quarterback this Sunday against the Kansas City Chiefs.
Lewis missed a second straight day of practice to give his bruised ribs another day to rest and hopefully he will be ready to go tomorrow, at least this is what Marrone is hoping for.
“We’re still not ready to make a decision right now until we get more information,” said Marrone.
Whether Lewis will be able to start this weekend…
“Fifty-fifty,” he said of Lewis’ chances of playing Sunday. “I spoke to Thad and I spoke to the trainers and I know there was a report out there with a league source. I’m hoping the league source is right because I really don’t know right now. It’s 50-50. Trust me.”
With Lewis still undetermined, CJ Spiller is set to play this weekend. Spiller has practiced the past two days on a limited basis and has all signs pointing to him playing this weekend.
Spiller has been playing with an ankle injury since week 4 and last week was held out to hopefully recover fully so that he could get back to being his productive self and help the team. Whether Spiller sitting out has helped him or not…
“Who knows because I’ve been playing on it and there’s only the one game that I missed,” he said. “It would be hard for me to say that it accelerated the healing process because even on Sunday when I went out there (to test it) it felt good so who knows or can say what (the rest) has done? It felt better (Thursday).”
