Well, the Buffalo Bills came into the Big Easy with a determination to win. They came out with another tally added tot he loss column, but not for a lack of trying.
The Bills go into week 9 with a 3-5 record and the probability of a playoff spot diminishing with every loss. They are still mathematically in it but they will need a win against the Kansas City Chiefs when they visit Buffalo this coming week.
The Buffalo Bills had issues early on in the game against the Saints and turnovers was the key to the game. You just can not give a good football team the ball with good field position. You shoot yourself in the foot too often it is bound to hurt. The Saints took 3 turnovers by the Bills and turned it into 14 points. If you take away those points the game is a 21-17 which is reachable and doable by the Bills.
I feel that the first half went to the Bills. They outplayed the Saints even though they went into half 21-10. The Saints looked rusty and were given three turnovers, one they couldn’t do anything with and got no points off of. Their running game was moving the ball and quite frankly keeping the offense moving. The second half is where they got into trouble. The Bills were unable to move the ball on the ground and this hurt them because they became a 1 dimensional team. There is no way that a 1 dimensional team will ever win in the NFL. What really hurt the Bills was the late TD by Brees. This was pure luck. He throws up a lame duck of a ball to a rookie being covered by a rookie on 3rd and 20. I think if it is replayed again, it doesn’t have the same outcome.
The Bills are a young team that needs to learn how to finish the game and play strong throughout, especially against already established teams. They will have to do this against the Chiefs this week especially if they have any hope for the playoffs. They need to win 7 of their 8 remaining games, which can be done, but needs to start now.
