As the new look Bills came into this season they had some undrafted free agents make this team. One of them being Nickell Robey and he has been pretty good for this team and is only getting better.
With Robey fitting into some of the Bills packages he has done well and the coaching staff has taken notice. Whenever his number is called he seems to just step in and do his job. At 5’ 8” his height leaves him vulnerable on the outside but inside he has been good in coverage.
Nickell played is college ball at USC and always brought his speed to compete. Being on the track team as well only helped him more on the football field. Also taking a look at his game he seemed like the guy who got his hands on the ball a lot. Pass break ups, 5+ interceptions and in which 3 were returned for touchdowns pegged him as a good cover guy playing through his college career.
So far this season Robey has played a good amount for this team as we’ve all seen this depleted secondary go through its injury problems. He stepping in and contributing well made him a great fit for this team. The Bills have been known to keep some guys on their roster that have been undrafted and also let them go but he looks like a guy that could stick around for a while. Another thing I’m sure of and is still on the minds of fans that especially watched Sunday he is pick six. Let’s hope there’s more to come as he is progressing nicely.
Being the youngest guy on the team Nickell is sure to learn a bunch from the guys in the locker room. So far we have seen what he can do in nearly half the season but I will continue to watch him and see what happens after the season and into the next.
A possible steal or will he fizzle out and be forgotten about?
