We are not talking about Deon Sanders here either. The Buffalo Bills last played on Prime Time back in 2009 on a Thursday against the Jets. They went on to lose that game 19-13. Ralph Wilson has stated before that he does not like to have Prime Time games or Late Sunday games because it cuts into the ticket sales and profit that he can make on a Sunday afternoon game.
I accept that, but then I also began to think, how have the Bills fared during the Prime Time. I couldn’t remember the last time they won on prime time. I was right. The Bills have played 12 Prime time games since 2001. There last win came against the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2001 with a 13-10 victory. The best part about this is that the last person to have a winning point for the Bills on prime time is Jake Arians. He kicked the winning field goal for that game in 2001 after Rob Johnson took the Bills 48 yards to set up the field goal.
I guess it fits right in with the Bills not making the playoffs for the last 13 season, not having a winning record for the past 11 years (2002) and not winning a prime time game in 12 years. It all kinda fits.
So is it a Ralph decision to keep the team off of prime time or is it a league decision not to play the Bills against anyone because of ratings. You be the judge.
I do believe that this Thursday Night against the Cleveland Browns, the Bills will break their prime time losing drought and go 3-2 and after the Jets and Dolphins lose as well, Buffalo will move into a 2nd place tie with the Dolphins.
