Buffalo Nickel/Wide-Right Awards

I am again bringing back the Buffalo Nickel/Wide-Right Awards I started last year.  I have to apologize, I am posting my awards post later than normal.  The awards will normally go out between an hour and two hours after the game.  I had to record the game and watch it later than I would have liked.

I was pleasantly surprised with how the Bills operated against the Colts today.  There are many positives that I could pick from to give a Buffalo Nickel to.  The thing that stands out to me as well as the announcers it seems, was the pace that the offense kept the game at when they had the ball.  The pace kept the defense off guard and limited their subs throughout the game; CJ Spiller, Marquise Goodwin, and both QBs.  The Buffalo Bills were able to do this with 2 rookie quarterbacks the entire game.  The Coaching staff gets the Buffalo Nickel award for keeping pace and getting the QBs up to speed to run the offense as it was.

On the other side of things is the wide-right award.  This award goes out to a group or individual that just did not preform up to where they need to be.  I know it is the 1st game in a year so there were mistakes made but there was one group that scares me at this point and has a lot of improving to do.  The Wide-Right awards goes to the CBs minus Gilmore.  Gilmore looked good, but the rest of the CBs from Ron Brooks down the line, looked lost and almost clueless on the field.  This seemed to be a weak point on the defensive side and one that needs to be locked up quickly.

I will be creating a tab at the top of the BLD homepage so you can quickly reference the award winners throughout the season.
