As we wait to see this team enter training camp and the regular season it will be interesting to see what the Bills have in store for the rest of the league. One thing we have been given an inside track on is there will be a lot of speed. On the offensive side of the ball we pretty much have it figured out who will be running the ball but what about catching the ball? With a lot of questions at the receiver position I think one player still available that the Bills should take a look at is Brandon Lloyd.
Lloyd coming into the league in 2003 as a 2nd round draft choice with San Francisco has definitely moved around since. He would be called a veteran journeyman in my book and could be exactly what this Bills receiving corps needs. Playing on 6 different teams throughout his career so far has given him a ton of experience and also a look and what different organizations try to put in their schemes. Lloyd hasn’t wowed anyone with stats bedsides one year with Denver but I still would take Lloyd on my team. Some of his stats to date look like this: 128gp, 385rec, 5,695 yards, 14.8 Avg, 35 TD’s and 3 fumbles. As I said before these stats nothing to get crazy about but take a look at the last stat. Only three fumbles in 128 games played? To me that sticks out and is great that he seems to be very dependable. All the things he has learned could be great for the youngsters potentially stepping into big roles right away.
That said I think Lloyd should definitely be looked at and considered. I have no problem with a young team but also need that veteran presence there to guide. If he was to ever sign I could see the Bills keeping six receivers: Stevie Johnson, Brandon Lloyd, Robert Woods, TJ Graham, Marquise Goodwin and Da’Rick Rogers. Not too bad if it could ever happen. What do you think?
