This week is the start of mandatory mini-camps. For the Buffalo Bills, all but one will be there. Safety Jarius Byrd will be the only one not in attendance for the mandatory camp.
Byrd has yet to sign his tender of his franchise tag so technically he is not under contract at this point. He is also not holding out. He and the Buffalo Bills can still come to a multi-year contract but this has to be done before July 15th. After the 15th he is no longer able to sign a multi-year contract and will be stuck, if he wanted more, with a 1 year franchise tag contract.
Byrd is only one of two players that have not signed their tenders. Ryan Clady, Tackle for the Broncos, is the only other player that has not signed his tender so Byrd does have company but it is limited.
As a Bills fan, I like to see arguably our top back 7 defensive player on contract and coming into camp ready to go and begin to lead this team, but I also understand that their are other issues at hand that don’t make it that simple. But really, sign your contract and get to camp!
