Stevie Johnson in the last three years has shown what he can do and this year should be no different. He has managed to take on the best opposing corner and most of the time contribute and help his team.

An obvious difference going into this year will be the quarterback. Who is it going to be? I’m going to guess that it will be EJ Manuel or Kevin Kolb. From all indications so far that is all everyone’s really heard about. Sure Tarvaris Jackson is a part of this team but for some reason he isn’t brought up in conversation as much as the other two. Personally I don’t really care who it is as long as he can hit open receivers, land a long ball once in a while and manage to keep a play alive if needed with his feet.

With that Stevie has had Ryan Fitzpatrick throwing to him over the last three years. Stevie has done his job as you can see from the stats and also attracting more attention to leave others with one on one or other mismatches. 1,000 yards a season for three seasons with that quarterback I think is a real accomplishment. Over throws, balls in the turf and throws in his “direction” that had people wondering what the heck was that is what he has had to deal with. Watching replays of games and highlights clearly show how many times he along with his teammates were open and the ball simply couldn’t be delivered.

Other factors that will also contribute in Johnson’s production next season will be offensive scheme and new teammates. High percentage passes and timing plays will be a big part of this new offense. That to me says they may take a few shots only a game downfield and they have to make it count. Along with that I think this team has finally got a number two receiver in Robert Woods. He I think will take a lot of pressure and coverage off Johnson and have defenses thinking about both and not just focusing on him.

So as we wait for this season to begin I’ll guess that Stevie continues his 1,000 yard mark into another season. What looks to be a new and up-tempo offense I can see Johnson and others flourishing. One thing to remember though is that as good as the stats are or can be these players would trade it all just for the wins. Let’s see what happens.
