The New GM of the Buffalo Bills

Buddy Nix stepped down, what seemed to be only days after the draft.  This was a perfect time for Nix to step down as really the beginning for the scouting season is literally just starting.  His replacement…Doug Whaley, the Assistant GM.

Doug Whaley was announced that he will be stepping into Buddy Nix’s old spot and taking the helm at GM.  There is a tide turning and the Buffalo Bills are getting younger.  Whaley is following the likes of Nix, and Levy, John Butler and Bill Polian.  He is the 12th GM in the 53 years the Buffalo Bills have been in service.

Russ Brandon had this to say about Whaley…

“Doug is a passionate and committed leader who will work tirelessly with his department to build a team our fans and all of Western New York will be proud of heading into the future.”

He has already been in the mix and brought in players like Urbik, Rinehart, and Chandler to help fill vacant holes and needed positions.  Buddy Nix will still stay on as a consultant but for the most part and as we saw almost immediately after last years season, the Buffalo Bills are headed in a new direction.  Ralph gives control to Russ Brandon, Chan Gailey was replaced by Doug Marrone and Buddy Nix is now Doug Whaley.  The Staff has moved to a younger stepping stone and the atmosphere is that of change as well as excitement.
