Keep An Eye on Robert Woods

As Bills rookie minicamp is now in full swing all eyes are sure to be on EJ Manuel. Being the Bills first QB taken this high in the draft in some time it would be excepted. I on the other hand will be taking a look at the Bills 2nd round selection WR Robert Woods out of USC.

A month ago Bills fans were wondering what they were going to do at the wide receiver position. Cutting ties with the likes of David Nelson and Donald Jones, the Bills definitely had an opening on the field. When the Bills selected Woods I thought it would be perfect fit for this team. Looking at prior stats, how he plays and what he can bring to this team it was a no brainer.

Now back to the minicamp Woods in some people’s eyes had the best day if people were grading performances. You can take that how you want because you have to remember EJ Manuel is in the building. Reading different pieces it’s been said that he consistently got open in his routes and had great starting day. Also Woods has people thinking he could be the Bills one guy in the draft that could come in a start/compete from day 1.

Woods brings so much to the position the Bills I believe now have their guy alongside Stevie Johnson. His willingness to go over the middle, downfield blocking and also can run the deep routes gives this team a great weapon. He has always produced with good numbers at USC and let’s hope it continues.

With this minicamp going into it second day this is where it all starts. The playbook (more in depth), getting familiar with the facilities and getting acclimated with the staff are all part of the process. Hopefully all is a smooth transition and progression is made whenever possible. Any players you’re interested in seeing?

In Robert Woods and Da’Rick Rogers, the Bills have potentially two steals at WR from this year’s draft. Woods can bring so much to this offense, it means that the days of opposing defenses rotating around Stevie may well be gone. Rogers – if he can get his head on straight, and take full advantage of this situation – can be a game-changer for Buffalo. This guy SHOULD have been drafted by SOMEBODY, even with the off-field issues. Because Buffalo grabbed him, though, I think he’ll rise to the occasion, and eventually make the other teams regret not taking a chance on him. That’s OK, though ….. more for Buffalo!

Manuel, Woods, and Rogers could be a real triple threat as rookies!

Yes totally agree it could be real threat. I know he’s not a rookie but add Spiller also and that could be scary.

I have a feeling Nate Hackett and Doug Marrone are laughing to themselves because of all of the weapons and potential offensive combos they can now throw at teams! Judging by what those two did at Syracuse, they are going to show wrinkles no one else has seen before – and, if EJ takes off …. look out, NFL!!!

Woods is no steal, he is/was well known. Rogers, also was well known, but he was known for his early troubles. get it right, bill. You got your facts wrong for the 1st time as I’ve read your past posts. GO BILLS!!

Chas, you’d be perfect for Facebook or Twitter because you demonstrate a bad tendency to interpret writing without understanding context. When I refer to Woods and Rogers as “steals,” I mean in terms of other teams’ chances at drafting either player; if BOTH men pan out as their talent suggests, then OTHER teams will groan at their missed opportunities – in other words, when someone you’re competing with to buy a great house in a great neighborhood gets it, instead of you. My facts aren’t wrong – your perception of them is. learn to think before writing, and you’ll be fine. Continue to jump to conclusions, and you’ll make more mistakes like this one.

Bill, your reply was, hmm………..confusing. What you meant is beyond me. Did you actually attack my post to you? Or are you trying to prove something different from what i said? Pointedly, i said i did not see either of them as steals. mainly robert woods. So, you go to facebook or twitter, neither of which i use and learn to read.I always respected what you wrote, now………….? GO BILLS!!
