As the offseason continues a lot of questions seem to be getting some answers but also have people wondering about others. With the emergence of tight ends producing at a top level I have often wondered what the Bills will do to address their need. I know Scott Chandler has played pretty well at the position but I know we could get more production.
In the 7th round of the draft this Bills selected Chris Gragg TE out of Arkansas. Now I know you’re saying this was a 7th round pick but when I took a look at this guy I think he could produce for this team. Looking at some of his strengths I can see him getting down the field in a hurry causing problems for opposing linebackers. His speed is a great attribute to have along with good hands. He also has good play making ability after the catch and down field blocking.
His down fall that might have scared off other teams has been some injuries. A lingering knee injury had caused an only 5 game season in his senior year but recorded 22 receptions, 289 yards and 3 touchdowns. I don’t think that’s too bad but no doubt would have liked to see what he could have done in his full senior season. Another downfall of his is blocking on the line. Some say he gets pushed around and becomes unbalanced. I think that is something this team could work with him on and if he is producing in the scoring category I think that problem will be last on people’s minds.
There you have the Bills 7th round draft choice. I do think he will get a roster spot and if he stays healthy fans will be hearing a lot of good things about this guy. Although he lacks in some areas the potential to excel in more meaningful ones gets this kid in. Agree? Disagree?
