Fansided has put together their annual mock draft and it has been posted through the National Football Post. Russ Lande also commented on the picks that all of the editors made, including me.
As the editor of BLD, I was able to add my thoughts to the mock draft ad for the Buffalo Bills at the 8th spot.
My comments were:
The Bills are looking for a franchise quarterback and while Ryan Nassib appears to be a perfect fit, the eighth spot is a little too high for him. I expect the Bills to trade back to a late first/early second selection to grab Nassib. If this is not the case and Buffalo stands strong, look for the Bills to fill a need that had them playing five different players at the guard position last season. Buffalo will secure their offensive line with Chance Warmack out of ‘Bama.
Russ Lande analyzed the pick as well. His thoughts were:
Although many believe this is too early for the Bills to select quarterback Ryan Nassib, if they wait and hope to draft him in the second round, the Syracuse signal-caller will be long gone. So I think the Bills would be taking a huge gamble to draft a guard, of all things, with the quarterback position on the team in complete flux.
I agree in part with Lande, that the Bills need a signal caller and need it fast. I think the Buffalo Bills will trade back to get Nassib in the late first round, but to keep it simple we had to make a pick in our spot, and if Buffalo does not trade I think they will look to fill a need on the O-Line and hope for the Best when it comes to Nassib but this feeling is a minimal second to trading back.
