The Buffalo Bills Need To Gamble

With the draft quickly approaching this Bills team I believe needs to gamble and get their guy. Whoever that might be when draft day comes they can’t change their mind and go in a different direction. Over the past few years we’ve been hearing things like we took the best guy available and tend to pick from the south.

That may be all good at the time but please show us what that has done on the field? Not having a winning season since 04 has many fans wondering what this team could look like if our drafts turned out different. The guy in charge first and foremost is looked at first and questioned as to why he did what he did.

With reports coming down that Nix is entering his last full season or even sooner as the teams GM I hope Doug Whaley his successor is very much involved. Many say that he has been but no really knows everything that goes on behind closed doors. Due diligence is very much needed, and by the reports on certain players it looks to be getting done this year.

Another thing to look at is the new rookie pay scale. Years back rookies especially in the top 3 were paid tons of money. Sam Bradford benefited the most with is 6 year / 78million (50million guaranteed) contract that is now a thing of the past. This new scale I believe is perfect for the Bills along with other teams looking to take a chance on a guy that they think will contribute and play well but has that state of mind to know that if it doesn’t work out it will not devastate the franchise.

So if this first round pick ends up being: Geno Smith, Matt Barkley, Ryan Nassib, Chance Warmack, Jonathan Cooper, Cordarrelle Patterson or whoever I hope the Bills have a plan and stick to it. To change their plan and go in a different direction because of someone else’s pick and leaving their first choice out there is something of the past. Take the guy you want and if it’s a gamble so be it. It will be interesting to see what they do.
