Fred Davis re-signs with Redskins

The Bills are in re-building mode once again and that means it will be tougher than ever to lure Free Agents to the team. They will be forced to overpay and even when they do, the Free Agent has to ask himself “do I want to go there?”

Tight End Fred Davis was wined and dined by the Bills brass, but in the end, the former USC Trojan chose to stay with his current team the Redskins. Apparantly the lure of RGIII was much better than that of Tavaris Jackson or a draft pick. Many fans need to remember, while athletes can and will recover from achilles injuries, it takes time. Davis was injured in October of last year and a great timetable says 11 months for a return. He also re-signed on a 1-year deal which means he is in the hunt for big money. He wasn’t able to get it this year because of the injury so he stayed with what he knew, where he’s established his roots and where he has the potential to flourish to recieve the big money next year.

It isn’t the first time the Bills have lost out on a Free Agent. If you recall, last year One Bills Drive wined and dined Robert Meachem and lost him to the Chargers. Maybe the team will be better off, but it does feel like you just started dating a new girlfriend and after a date or two she decided to go back with her ex. It stings.
