One Bills Drive has been in “Lock Down” Mode ever since the infamous recording of General Manager Buddy Nix have a conversation with Tampa Bay GM Mark Dominik about the Bills Quarterback situation and Free Agency rules. Nothing is getting in and nothing is getting out. The little information we’ve been able to get has been focused on April’s draft, where head scouts Doug Whaley and Buddy Nix have been keeping an eye on the Pro Days of potential NFL prospects. No news has been made about which Free Agent the Bills have targeted or plan to target, yet there are gaping holes at Linebacker, Wide Receiver and Quarterback. Not to mention a hole at safety.
Several names have been mentioned, like LaRon Landry, but nobody knows for sure if negotiations are in full swing or if the Bills are just forgoing Free Agency. If the team wants to compete this year, some players need to be signed. The Bills are in a good cap situation after the retirement of Chris Kelsay and losing Andy Levitre and George Wilson to free Agency. The Bills are one of the most profitable teams in the league every year, so the money can be spent. Last year the Bills made a splash and landed one of the premier pass rushers in the league in Mario Williams. The signing helped boost Season Ticket Sales, yet this year, with Season tickets being down once again after a 13th straight playoff-less season, there has been no chatter in Orchard Park because of a certain phone call between GMs before Free Agency officially kicked off.
Buffalo (Russ Brandon specifically) sells hope. However, the fans are now left out in the dark and left with no hope on the horizon because there has been no communication between the team and its fan base.
