Yesterday Sports Illustrated came out with their latest mock draft, and there are certainly some interesting storylines to follow. One of the interesting picks is actually the Bills, who took former West Virginia quarterback Geno Smith with the eighth overall pick.
Here’s what SI had to say about the pick.
With a 4.56 time in the 40 at the combine, Smith proved he’s in the ballpark with Colin Kaepernick and Russell Wilson when it comes to speed, whether he’s considered a “running” quarterback or not. The Bills simply have to find an answer at quarterback, and I don’t know how they pass on Smith, who at least gave himself a shot to go in the top 10 with a solid showing in almost every respect in Indianapolis.
Smith has apparently been impressing many at the combine, but its still uncertain where exactly he falls in the draft. Formally considered a solid top pick, he very likely could still be available at eighth overall.
With the first overall pick, the Kansas City Chiefs took offensive tackle Luke Joeckel. Cornerback Dee Milliner out of Alabama went second overall to Jacksonville, and defensive tackle Sharrif Floyd went third overall to the Raiders. You can see the whole draft here.
