Bills Defense Looking Very Different

With the retirement of Chris Kelsay, yet another Bills defender is no off the roster. It seems that everyday another one falls. Its not super surprising that the Bills want to clean house with how their defense played last season.

The question that I’ve been asking myself is will this defense be better now that they are changing so many things. Sure, some of the players people wanted to see gone are leaving. But does that mean that they are being replaced by better players.

Its kind of too early in the off-season to tell. The team hasn’t been in a position to really add to the defense yet, just subtract from it. Even so, all the moves seem to point toward the Bills being very proactive. That could translate to additions, or it could not.

It seems like this team doesn’t know whether it is close to being good, in a transition stage, or completely rebuilding. The defense seems like it is entirely rebuilding.

That being said, there is still some talent left on this roster. I don’t think anyone has completely given up on the defensive line just yet. Jairus Byrd and Stephon Gilmore can be seen as the bright spots of the defensive backs. However, this team still has a long way to go.
