Jarius Byrd is set to be a free agent and the Bills are hoping to hold on to him.
The Bills have are set to meet with Byrd this week at the combine to discuss and negotiate a contract suitable for both sides. In his four years, Byrd has been selected to the pro bowl once in 2009, where he had and NFL tied Lead of 9 interceptions, as well as a replacement for Ed reed this past month.
Without Byrd, the Bills defense stands to have both safety positions without returning players, next to Da’Norris Searcy as George Wilson was released earlier this month.
Money has become available with George and Nick Barnett being released, but the question is how much do the Bills want to spend on Byrd. They also have to look at Andy Levitre being signed as well, who is the other big name that is a free agent.
Another option is Buffalo using their Franchise Tag or Transition Tag on either of these players, but in the long run this tends ot me more expensive then setting up a long term contract.
