WGR 550 is reporting that the Bills are working on an extension with restricted free agent wide receiver Donald Jones. Jones has served as the team’s second wide out behind Stevie Johnson the past two seasons. This year he had his best year as a Bill, catching 41 balls for 443 yards and 4 touchdowns.

The Bills have until March 12th, when they would need to extend a qualifying option to Jones. They would then be able to match any offer made by another team to retain Jones’ services.

Jones has produced in the past, so it isn’t surprising that he would be returning to the Bills. With David Nelson coming back from injury that would take a bit of the load off Jones next season, although Nelson is also a restricted free agent. Adding another receiver is always a possibility as well. Jones may not be a stand out starting receiver, he’s a real solid depth player.
