Stevie Johnson’s Comments Should Scare You

Yesterday on the Jim Rome Show, Buffalo Bills wide receiver Stevie Johnson was a guest. He discussed his off-season training and what he is thinking about the current position of the Bills. However, one comment really does stand out among the rest.

“This year we’ve got a new staff, and you know, I’ve had three seasons with a thousand yards, and that’s like without doing, like, real football work,” said Johnson. “So you know, who knows what happens if I really put in work? Maybe I can eclipse a thousand and go into twelve hundred, you know, maybe thirteen. Maybe I’ll be even more energized to finish out games, and we’ll get things done, you know. So I’m going to be working hard from next Sunday to April 1st when we go back.”

So Stevie Johnson is publicly saying that he doesn’t do much in the off-season and could be a lot better if he really wanted to. That can’t be a good sign.

Johnson is one of the leaders of this team, and this isn’t exactly the best example to set for the rest of his teammates. Sure, many might say he was joking around. However, I see this as a serious problem. Now, I don’t think the team should just cut ties with him immediately  That would be uncalled for (and not to mention leave a whole bigger than the universe at wide receiver). Its just a tad alarming and should be discussed between Johnson and Doug Marrone.

Some think that people are over reacting. I guess all I can say is listen to the interview for yourself. What do you think? The comments shouldn’t exactly bring a smile to your face.

Is this a good time to mention how much I hate Jim Rome?

Being a so called leader of this team he should know how to conduct himself in those situations. Whats a newly drafted QB to think?
