The Buffalo Bills defense this past season was just down right awful. There terrible start lingered into the bye before they finally started to post half-way decent numbers against the pass and run. One thing that I did like about the defense was Jairus Byrd.
Ever since being drafted from Oregon in the 2nd round of the 2009 draft Byrd has been a ball hawk. Taking control of the backfield and making the big plays is a major part of his game. In his first season he recorded 9 interceptions and had a great rookie year. The next two seasons his INT numbers went down but his game was steady and was a force on the field. This past season his numbers rose again, and in peoples minds he was one of the best safeties this year.
He was snubbed in my eyes not getting a called for the pro bowl but then after Ed Reed and the Ravens beat the Patriots and moved on to the Super Bowl Byrd got the nod. He will represent the Bills along with Kyle Williams and CJ Spiller.
This year also was a contract year and many wonder what will happen to Byrd. Will he resign? Will the Bills franchise him? Those are questions many fans will be wondering. I hope something is done to keep him here. Although this team has had its problems on defense he has been a bright spot.
The last question I have is when will the fans know what’s going to happen? Could you be drafting one if Byrd heads out? Hopefully everything works itself out and he comes back to the Bills. What do you think?
