It was a hard earned victory and a stroke of luck for 2 Bills players today and it all ends with a lei. CJ Spiller and Kyle Williams have both been selected to represent the AFC in this coming weekends Pro Bowl in Hawaii and it’s all because the Ravens defeated the Patriots yesterday.
Spiller replaces Ravens RB Ray Rice after rushing for a career high 1,244 yards on only 207 carries and while getting 6 touchdowns. He led all running backs with a 6.0 yards per carry average and had 11 – 100 yard rushing games, the most since 1993 when Thurman Thomas accomplished the feat. With Spiller, you knew he was only a slight movement away from breaking a big play every time he touched the ball. His electricity spread through the organization like wildfire and one could only imagine what he could have done if he was given the ball more.
Williams replaces Ravens DL Haloti Ngata. Ngata a perennial Pro Bowler will be a tough assignment to fill (if the Pro Bowl ment anything), but Williams high motor is what has earned him this distinction. He had 5 sacks and 46 total tackles this season. This will be his second Pro Bowl honor.
Jairus Byrd heads the snub list for the Bills. Byrd had another career year posting 4 forced funbles and having 5 interceptions. Despite Ravens Ed Reed being unable to play, NY Jets Laron Landry will be taking his spot.
