Welcome to another week of the NFL Mock Draft here on the Fansided Network. Despite the Bills loss this weekend they still sit with the ninth pick in the draft. Last week the team took LSU defensive end Barkevious Mingo, however this week they went a different direction.
With Mingo going fifth overall to Cleveland, the Bills needed to go a different direction. Instead with the ninth overall pick Buffalo selected Damontre Moore, OLB/DE out of Texas A&M. Moore, a 6’5” 250 lbs. Junior, was named to the AP All-American Second Team this season and is a finalist for the Hendricks Trophy (given to the top defensive end in football). This is what the folks over on the main site had to say.
It may not be the biggest need for the Bills, but after the past two weeks they have shown they desperately need help on the defensive side of the ball. You can never have too many pass rushers and Moore is considered a possible top 5 talent. Moore still has a lot of room to develop and he could learn behind Mario Williams and Mark Anderson before he is ready to make a major impact.
A player like Moore might night be exactly what the Bills need, but another player like him could really help the defense. Although primarily a defensive end in college, Moore has a ton of talent and it would be interesting to see if they could develop him as a linebacker. If the draft plays out as this mock projected he would likely be the best available player.
The Kansas City Chiefs still hold the first overall pick and once again take West Virginia quarterback Geno Smith. Georgia linebacker Jarvis Jones jumped up the board to go second overall to Jacksonville. Manti T’eo, who the Bills have selected before in our drafts, went seventh overall to Detroit. USC quarterback Matt Barkley returned to the first round, being selected 11th overall by Arizona.
