For the Bills, an outside chance still remains but there are two things that need to happen. One being that the Bills has to win out. If the Bills don’t then the playoffs are completely out of reach. The other is that they need help from that of 3 teams. The Jets and Dolphins are not in this scenario because the anticipation of a win-out by the Bills will crush their chances. The three teams in question are the Steelers, the Colts, and the Bengals. The Colts are the only team that has the head to head matchup with the Bills, so they need to beat the Colts out strictly by record. For this to happen, the Colts sitting at 8-4 need to lose out. The remaining schedule for the Colts is as follows: Titans (4-8), Texans (11-1), Chiefs (2-10), and the Texans (11-1). I can see two definite loses for them against the Texans, but the Titans and the Chiefs, a stretch for the Titans, but I think they will win against the Chiefs hands down. The Steelers are in 6th place right now. Their final stretch includes: Chargers (4-8), Cowboys (6-6), Bengals (7-5), and the Browns (4-8). The Steelers are 7-5 right now. The Bengals are in 7th place and right in front of the Bills for the teams still ‘in the hunt’. The Bengals are also 7-5. Their remaining schedule is as follows: Cowboys (6-6), Eagles (3-9), Steelers (7-5), Ravens (9-3). The only likely scenario for the Bills to make the playoffs is if the Steelers go 8-8 winning only 1 of their last 4 games. The Bengals cannot win more than 2 games. If this happens, the Steelers finish in 8th place and the Bengals would finish in 7th place. This would put the Bills at 9-7 in the 6th place spot.
Teams to watch this week would be the Bengals and Cowboys with the Cowboys winning and the Steelers and Chargers with the Chargers pulling out an upset. This would be a start on the right path for the Bills. It is still possible.
