Thanksgiving Games: Outlook

There are three games this year being played on Thanksgiving. The Prime time game is that of the Patriots vs. the Jets. The other two games are those which will be entertaining but not as much of a factor for the Buffalo Bills. The first game is Houston vs. Detroit. This will be an interesting matchup. Detroit has more overall yards at 401 versus Houston’s 382 per game. The Lions also take the matchup if you’re looking at passing yards per game by more than 50 yards per game. Where Houston will get Detroit is in ball control and the running game. With Arian Foster and the Texans putting up just about 40 yards more per game than the Lions, the Texans should have this game locked.

The next game is Washington at Dallas. RG3 versus Romo. Really I don’t think that there is a comparison. The Cowboys have been almost as inconsistent as the Bills have been this year. I personally think that the Redskins will have an easy time with this game. It will be an exciting game to watch as it is a division game and there are playoff implications as well as the division is all but locked up.

Finally, the game to watch, especially for the Bills is the Pats/Jets game. With this being a division game, the Bills need to hope for both of them losing, but that is not possible and a tie would only hurt the Bills. If the Jets win, it will make it a lot harder to make the playoffs with the head to head matchup on the losing side at this point. Really, the Jets need to lose and Buffalo will still have to win out for any shot. If the Pats lose, then they also will need to lose their next 3 of 5 games to finish the season at 9-7. The likelihood that this will happen is minimal and the only way I see them losing the next 4 of 6 is if Brady is hurt for the rest of the season, and even then it is questionable. So you can either cheer for the Pats to win, the Jets to take out Brady, or the Pats win and the Jets take out Brady. If this happens, it could be a win/win for the Bills.
