Looking at the four teams immediately ahead of the Bills that are in the hunt for the playoffs are the Bengals (5-5), Chargers (4-6), Titans (4-6), and the Jets (4-6). The Titans and Jets have the head to head matchup against the Bills right now, but the Jets can be split with a win during the last week of the season.
The Bengals have a schedule that starts against the Raiders (3-7), Chargers (4-6) and the Cowboys (5-5) and finishes with the Eagles (3-7), Steelers (6-4), and the Ravens (8-2). With every scenario having the Bills win out, to make it easy right now, the Bengals only need to lose 2 games for the Bills to move ahead of them. The likelihood that they lose too is decent as the Cowboys could pull a win out, as well as the Steelers and Ravens, which are the most likely of the three to win.
The Chargers schedules for the rest of the season looks like Ravens (8-2), Bengals, (5-5), Steelers (6-4), Panthers (2-8), Jets (4-6), and the Raiders (3-7). With 6 loses already the chargers can’t afford to lose a game if they look to make the playoffs. The Chargers, Titans, and the Jets, with the Bills are all in a must win-out season to have any hope of making the playoffs.
The Titans schedule looks like Jags (1-8), Texans (9-1), Colts (6-4), Jets (4-6), Packers (7-3), and the Jags again. They can only afford to lose once at most and even this is a stretch. The likelihood they win-out with games against the Packers and Texans is a very big stretch.
The Jets have remaining games against the Patriots (7-3), Cardinals (4-6), Jags (1-8), Titans (4-6), Chargers (4-6), and the Bills (4-6).
With the last 3-4 weeks it seems the four teams ahead of the Bills all play each other in some sort of fashion and the Bill will only face the Jets. This could help the Bills with a couple of win here, lose there scenarios. The next couple of weeks will have interesting story lines as they play out to who makes it and who falls short.
