Yesterday the Bills signed two players to the active roster after losing a few players to injuries. the started off by signing defensiveback Crezdon Butler and then finished off the day by signing offensive lineman Thomas Welch.
Butler, originally drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers out of Clemson in 2010, is mostly a journeyman corner. He has spent time with the Steelers, Arizona Cardinals, and Washington Redskins. He was claimed by the team off of Arizona’s practice squad. He has played in eight games in his NFL career, with one career tackle. His signing comes after the Bills lost both Terrence McGee and Aaron Williams to injuries.
Welch was originally drafted by the New England Patroits (also in 2010 out of Vanderbilt), and has also spent some time with the St. Louis Rams. He has even less experience, with only one career start. Erik Pears was placed on the season ending IR list earlier this week, which opened up a spot for Welch.
