Just one word can describe Buddy Nix: Wow. Nix knows what he has at quarterback and today on Buffalo radio Nix has made it known he’s not happy with QB Ryan Fitzpatrick. Now all he said was the team was looking for a franchise player at the position, but just the thought of wanting a franchise player states Fitzpatrick is not that guy. Nix is seeing what every opposing player, every fan and every teammate sees: An erratic QB which has trouble making a deep throw and a player who makes a poor throw at the worst time.
Player to watch out for: QB Ryan Fitzpatrick
Fitzpatrick needs a strong game against the Texans because he doesn’t have the GM behind him and Gailey has been less expressive and less supportive of him in the past few weeks. Fitzpatrick is 29th in the league in passing yards, 18th in the league in completion percentage, 6th in the league for most interceptions, but is 6th in the league for most touchdown passes. Those numbers do not look good at all for a team still hunting for a playoff spot. Maybe the QB of the future isn’t too far away in Geno Smith, Matt Barkley, Aaron Murray or even Tyler Bray.
What Needs to Happen This Week:
For starters, Buffalo needs to be able to stop the run in order to defeat Houston. If the Bills want any shot at making the playoffs, they need to steal one from either the Texans or Patriots and it needs to be done on the road. The Bills also need help in the conference with certain teams losing. The Titans need to fall to the Bears and Denver needs to take out the Bengals. Both of those are likely, while it would be nice if the Dolphins won, for the mere fact, the Bills still play them twice and could hope to beat them both times, which would make the win against the Colts irrelevant and a wildcard position still likely.
